  4. KIDS: PLEASE HAVE YOUR PARENTS (OR A GUARDIAN) READ THIS SO
  5. THAT YOU CAN OPEN A NETZERO ACCOUNT.

  7. PARENTS/GUARDIANS: NETZERO BELIEVES THAT IT IS ESPECIALLY
  8. IMPORTANT TO PROTECT CHILDREN'S PRIVACY ONLINE AND ENCOURAGES
  9. PARENTS AND GUARDIANS TO SPEND TIME ONLINE WITH THEIR CHILDREN
  10. AND PARTICIPATE IN THEIR INTERNET ACTIVITY. ACCESS TO THE
  11. INTERNET MAY PERMIT CHILDREN TO RECEIVE CONTENT OR A MESSAGE
  12. FROM ANOTHER PERSON THAT IS OBSCENE, VIOLENT OR UNLAWFUL. IN
  13. ADDITION, INTERNET ACCESS PERMITS CHILDREN TO INTERACT WITH
  14. OTHERS IN WAYS THAT MAY CAUSE HARM TO YOUR CHILD OR DAMAGE TO
  15. OTHERS. OPENING A NETZERO ACCOUNT WILL RESULT IN ADVERTISING
  16. BEING SENT DIRECTLY TO CHILDREN MEMBERS.

  18. For these reasons, NetZero requires that children younger than
  19. age 18 obtain parental consent in order to subscribe to
  20. NetZero's Internet access services and that parents (or guardians)
  21. assume responsibility for the actions of their children while
  22. online. If you would like your child to be able to access the
  23. Internet through NetZero, please read the entire contents of
  24. this agreement and click on the "I Consent" button below.

  26. At any time after your child's account is activated, you may
  27. view the information that NetZero has collected from your
  28. child by logging onto the NetZero service through your child's
  29. account (you will need your child's memberid and password to
  30. do this). You may terminate your child's account at any time 
  31. by submitting a request to NetZero via email to
  32. cancellation@netzero.net, fax it to (818) 879-7257 or U.S. mail
  33. at the following address:

  40. By clicking on the "I Consent" button, I am allowing my child
  41. to open an account for free internet access services and to 
  42. become a member of NetZero. I certify that I am at least 18
  43. years old and am the parent or legal guardian of the child who
  44. is opening this NetZero account. Further, I acknowledge that
  45. the Internet and/or advertising contains content and materials
  46. that are inappropriate for children and I agree that NetZero
  47. will not be responsible for any injury that my child may
  48. experience (while online or offline) due to accessing the
  49. Internet. I assume full responsibility for my child's activities
  50. while accessing the Internet and I agree to indemnify and 
  51. hold NetZero and its directors, officers and employees harmless
  52. against and from all damages, liabilities and claims arising
  53. from such activities.
